1. Phong & Chi đã dọn nhà về gần phi trường SF để tiện đón bạn bè và bà con. Hai người định về hưu năm sau vì làm cuối tuần quá mệt.

2. Như vừa đậu xong bằng Tiến Sĩ Kinh Tế.

3. Đào & Vân Anh đang đi tìm dâu hiền cho hai con trai lớn.

4. Tiếp cũng đang dăng báo tìm bạn bốn phương cho con trai đầu lòng.

5. Nghệ đã vào Tu Viện Kim Sơn để thiền.

6. Hải đang chọn ngày lành tháng tốt để làm đám hỏi.

7. Luân đang mời bạn bè tới văn phòng để hỏi thăm sức khoẻ.

8. Trác đang chuẩn bị cuc họp mặt năm 98 của exKiwis tại Sacto.

Triết cho biết năm 98 sẽ nhận làm báo và học bổng 7ND. Và để giúp vui phần văn nghệ vào tối Thứ Bảy, Triết sẽ hát bài "Thương quá là thương" của Nhạc Sĩ Anh Bằng với sự hợp ca của Ban ExKiwis Sợ Vợ Nam Calif.

Hình như trong nhóm Cựu Sinh Viên Mít Tân Tây Lan đã lập mt tổ chức rất ư là ghê gớm tên là: Mặt trận Bảo Vệ Phu Quyền . Bạn N Giao đưọc bầu làm Tổng Thư Ký và ND Ngôn được nominated làm Chủ tịch . Tổng thư ký phân trần trong email dưới đây lý do tại sao Bạn Ngôn được nominated làm Chủ tịch.

As the elected Secretary General of the newly formed Mặt Trận Bảo Vệ Phu Quyền (United Front for the Protection of Husband Rights), Ím responding to those who ask why
ND Ngon was nominated Chairman of this organization. In our heated discussion, comrade Ngon was selected because:

1. He is nặng ký (perhaps the most) among the NZ-Alumni.

2. In our Reunion in Monterey last year, chairman Ngôn had the courage to publicly define what wives really are.

3. Somehow, our chaiman managed and got Mrs. Chairman to approve his nomination.

None of comrade Ngon's competitors had even just two of the above qualifications. andidate Ngon was elected unanimously.

We believe our chairman is more than capable to lead us, long time (over 20 years for some!) abused victims of the Amazon, in regaining our confidence to redeem our worth as the original Mít Chổng of Tân Tây Trúc.

Mặt trận này hình như không dám hoạt đng công khai. Cho nên chẳng bao lâu, Tổng Thư Ký N A Giao phải đi trú ẩn (không biết có phải tị nạn không) Đọc thư ẩn cư sau đây của Tổng Thư ký Mặt Trận, không ai không khỏi thấy thương cho Tổng thư Ký nhà ta. Mặt Trận Amazon hình như còn thần bí hơn. Chưa l mặt mà Quan quân Mặt Trận Bảo Vệ Phu Quyền đã hết vía.

Somebody reported to my wife - whom Íve just found out, is the Secretary General of The Amazon, an alliance whose one and only goal is to maximize the female chauvinist rights regardless of expenses - that I dared to take the position of the newly founded Mat Tran Bao Ve Phu Quyen...

Well, without revealing my family affairs which affect my well being (you know, basic
things like foods and bed...) greatly I will need to go underground now for a while -
could well be a long long while - until things cool off.

During my absence (which can be seen as an exile), please continue to report your NZ-Alumni affairs to either NM Triet or PP Long of our Southern California Branch Office.

Our great long time traditional activities should not be interupted by the non-availability of just one single ordinary member.

I read thơ Kiều and ran across these verse when Kim Trọng followed Thúy Kiều, this was what he saw:

" Lần theo núi giả đi vòng
Cuối tường đường có nẻo thông mới rào
Xắn tay mở khóa đng đào
Rẽ mây trông rõ lối vào thiên thai "

Based on Kim Trong's above written testimony, one guy told me that Kieu had cosmetic surgery.

Hello Long

I am glad that you brought this issue up, because I have been wondering about Kieús
beauty ever since I was introduced to her in High School.

I realized that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but I found it difficult to admire her beauty.

First let's examine her face. Nguyễn Du described her face as:

"Gương trăng đầy đặn, nét ngài nở nang"

So her face was round like a full moon. Nguyễn Du also emphasized the full feature of her face with đầy đặn . It means to me that her face was also puffy as well. Being a person working in the medical field, I would venture to say that with a puffy full face, Kiều must have been very fat. She was likely to have high cholesterol and may have suffered from edema. Edema is a manifestation of Congestive Heart Failure. It causes the body to retain water, resulting in puffy face, hand and feet. In văn chương bình dân, I would describe her face as mặt mẹt .

Well, we all know that the face of the moon is full of pock marks as the result of collisions with meteorites. In Kiềús case, the pock marks were most likely the result of either chicken pox or severe cases of acne. Again in popular literature, we call it mặt rổ .

Her eye brows were also interesting. Nét ngài nở nang indicated that she had very bushy eye brows. I have not seen many Vietnamese with bushy eye brows. However, the combination of a round face and bushy eye brows does not conjure an image of an attractive face. I call this kind of face mặt heo .

I don't think that there is a Vietnamese expression to describe a combination of mặt mẹt , mặt rổ and mặt heo . The closest one I could think of is Thị Nỏ, even so Thị Nỏ does not have some of the distinctive features of Kiều. In English, the equivalent one would be a bull dog face. Let's just call this type of face as mặt Kiều , so that we all know what we mean when we admire a woman and say that her face has the beauty of Kiều.

Now, let s look at her skin;

"Mây thua nước tóc, tuyết nhường màu da"

Íve seen snow (there is plenty of it around here) and I know that snow is white, so Kiềús skin was whiter than snow, which is pretty white, a rare occurrence for an Asian like her.

But more importantly, her hair was also white as well, even whiter than cloud. Therefore, she must have been an albino, pretty unique in Asian population. That was probably why Nguyễn Du selected her as his subject for the poem.

There are other sections of the poem that support my theory, such as:

"Hoa ghen thua thắm, liẽu hờn kém xanh"

but I think that I will stop here.

So to me, Kiều was an albino, suffering from congestive heart failure, with a bull dog face full of pock marks. Was she pretty\? You tell me.

People have also said Beauty is in the eyes of the BEER holder. Was Nguyễn Du drunk when he saw Kiều\?

Enough Kiều bashing for the day. I will talk about her characters some other days.

The best medicine

Three guys went to Heaven. God checked their past on earth.

- "You are a good man, always faithful to your wife, herés for you, a Rolls Royce. Do whatever you want with it!"

- "You did cheat your wife a couple of times, herés a motorbike for you!"

- "You Mit Chong, you are too much, I don't know what to say, you only deserve this bicycle!"

It was a cool afternoon, the Mit Chong was riding his bicycle around. There, under a tree,

the guy with the Rolls Royce was crying,and looked so miserable.

- "What's going on mate\? Why you are crying? You have this nice, and expensive Rolls Royce to cruise around . . ."

- "Oh man, I am so sad, I just saw a lady, she was my wife, and she is, poor me, . . . roller-skating!"

Gặp lại anh sau bao năm xa cách
Dáng dấp hiền vẫn còn nguyên vẹn thuở thư sinh

Ngồi bên anh chị, lòng em sầu canh cánh
Nhưng hai ngươì cùng khuyên nhủ mt câu:
" Sống luôn luôn ôm mối mng bình thường
Em sẽ có những niềm vui như anh chị"
Nhưng, thưa anh, chữ Thường này rất khó,
Nguyện với lòng nghe chị rỉ tai ..
Hy vọng rằng sẽ gặp được anh chị ..dài dài...
