Anh hỏi tôi

Do we realize that most of us spent only 4-5 years in NZ, lived 20-25 years in Vietnam, have been living at least 20 or many more years outside Vietnam ?. Why do we still talk and focus on the short time in NZ?

Xin trả lời

There are probably many and different reasons why a number of die-hard ex kiwis want to maintain the memories of their time in NZ. For many that period was the most enjoyable and significant time of their life, that was when they first experience "love", or lost their virginity, or achieved outstanding academic results, or became moderately insane, or all of the above reasons and more.

For me personally, it was the period during which I had to grow up in a hurry and learn how to be part of a wider community called Chong. I also learned how to enjoy lamb! Today, my "Rack of lamb marinated in fish sauce and crushed garlic" is still unique in this part of the world, and is a favourite meal for the whole family.

It was also a fun time for most of us, when we look back, as we did not have to bear many responsibilities like we do now. And we played sports and we were fairly fit and healthy, and drank NZ beer by the jug full, and attended all those wine and cheese parties! and started a magazine called 7ND.
